Your Toronto-Marseille flightdeparting from Toronto’s Pearson international airport (YYZ) will land at the Marseille-Provence airport (MRS) in Marignane. There are several options for getting to the centre of Marseille:
Right in the very heart of Marseille, you will find many beaches to enjoy: the small Catalans beach is barely 15 minutes away on foot from the Old Port. To the North of Marseille in the Estaque area you will also find the Corbière beach, or the Prado beach to the South - surrounded by large stretches of grass.
Feel free to walk a little further, right into the heart of the National Calanques Park and swim in the small preserved inlets and enjoy the beaches in the Frioul archipelago, a set about 4 small islands just opposite Marseille.
One of the local specialties to be tasted is Bouillabaisse - a rock fish soup with whole fish and potatoes in it, served with rouille sauce and croutons. Why not savour some in the restaurant Chez Michel, a real institution that opened 70 years ago.
When travelling as a tourist for less than 3 months within the Schengen area, a Canadian citizen must have an airline ticket from Toronto to Marseilleand a passport valid at least 90 days after the scheduled return to Canada.
If you plan to stay longer, you will need a long-term visa, delivered by one of the VFS Global centres in Canada.
